Looking for all-inclusive resort in Southern U.S.? Here are some vacations ideas for you to explore further....

If you are really want beach/ocean vs. just a pool, then check out all inclusive resorts packages to Mexico and the Caribbean. The best way is to look at your Sunday paper to see who advertises in your area, and then go to their website. For example, here in Texas, a big supplier is www.funjet.com. In other parts of the states, the Apple package wholesaler is big. Also, check the vacation packagesput together by the airlines you would most likely use--American, Continental, Delta, Southwest...you name it, they all have vacation packages websites, and if you poke around, you'll find all-inclusives in their Mexico & Caribbean offerings.

If you prefer the states and don't care if it's just a pool vs. beach/ocean, a different approach, not necessarily South, is looking into guest ranches/dude ranches. Most have a pool (or river access), and many have golf on site or nearby privileges. A good search engine will point you to the major "organizations" that feature this type of vacation;

I think one was www.duderanchweb.com. Of course, there are always the old traditional mainstays such as The Greenbriar and The Homestead. The Hyatt Hill Country Resort and The Westin La Cantera, both in San Antonio near Sea World and Fiesta Texas (theme park). Neither is all-inclusive, but they're great fun places to be.

Personally, I am so crazy about the Hyatt I haven't tried the Westin property yet--it's relatively new. But it looks very nice. The Hyatt is designed to feel like a grand old family resort--huge back porch w/ rocking chairs overlooking a "green" for lawn games. The fun feature for one and all is the man-made "river" running through the resort--every adult I know has approached it rather tentatively, but after floating around the loop once, they're hooked! So relaxing. There is a sandy beach area for sunbathing/kids' play. At night, they make s'mores at outdoor fireplaces (or fire pits? I can't remember). Bikes to rent (or maybe free, again, can't recall). There is a Camp Hyatt kids' program. You can check both resorts out on the web.
