Here Comes the Bride Showered with Fun

Author: Gail Leino

A Bridal Shower is a fun event! Traditionally this is a party for the girls to outfit the bride-to-bes kitchen. A Bridal Shower can have a theme, such as a Tea Party, a Garden Party or a day at the spa. Brides might already have a fully equipped kitchen, so your party depends upon your bride!

A traditional bridal shower includes a luncheon of some sort. Have each guest bring a salad or finger food entre to share. An afternoon shower serving desserts is also a fun way to celebrate the Brides day. As a bonus to the bride, have each person bring a recipe card with the dish they share to build the bride (or future grooms) cookbook. Another way to build the cookbook is to have each guest add a favorite recipe, no matter if they bring it or not, in the card.

Groceries are expensive and building up a pantry is a daunting task. To help stock a kitchen, have guests buy ingredients that go with the recipe they are giving. To take this a step farther, skip the wrapping paper and bow, and buy non-perishable foods instead! There is a poem to attach to the invitation that reads:

Save the paper, save the bow,
Buy a box or can of food
And watch (name)s pantry grow!

Without wrapping paper, guests can get creative with gift displays, such as wrapping the gift in a plastic, reusable tablecloth or cloth napkins. Some people simply use the store bag the gift was bought in. The possibilities are endless.

Cups, plates, napkins and silverware can be purchased at the party supply store to match your chosen theme. If decorations are needed, balloons, streamers and wall hangings are made to coordinate. A party planning specialist will be happy to assist you with any need you may have.
