"In God We Trust" or "Novus Ordo Seclorum"

Author: Jeffery S. Miller

Recently, a controversy has been stirred over the words, "In God We Trust," on the American currency. Many from the secular world object to the reference of a higher power on any monetary unit that is used by many people of different faiths and beliefs. Yet, there is not much of an argument over the Latin enscription of "Novus Ordo Seclorum." Now, the purpose of this article is not to inflame anyone from either side, but merely to inform what the two brief slogans are exactly on the dollar bill.

"In God We Trust" has been on the dollar bill for a long time, the same goes for "Novus Ordo Seclorum." I think that it is pretty clear in what the former states. I will explain more on the latter. "Novus Ordo Seclorum" is latin for the New World Order. Could it be the New World Order that the Book of Revelation speaks of from the Holy Bible? It could be. It could also mean that America is the New World Order. The New World Order meaning the New World from the Old World Order (Europe). Despite the true origins of the words, it could be said that all people could be in an uproar.

I have found that no matter what your beliefs may be, people are passionate about those beliefs. I would like to let it be known that if you don't like one particular slogan on the currency, you may like the other. There is a reason that both of the respected slogans were placed on the bill. This debate that seems to have been spawned as of recently, really isn't new. The powers that be placed both of these enscriptions to appease both sides of this debate that was foreseen years ago.

"In God We Trust" or "Novus Ordo Seclorum" which is the greater threat to you?
