The Best and Most Practical Urine Removers Around

Author: Michael Louis

Removing pet urine from carpets and rugs can be quite a major hassle when bringing in your pets to your home. This is especially true if you are quite queasy dealing with pet excrement and urine. If you are one of the many pet owners who are still a bit squeamish when dealing with this dilemma, dont panic, you are not alone or without advice either.

The first thing you will have to know is how dog urine affects your furnishings. First of all urine contains ammonia which is a potent chemical that can damage some materials. In the older days, ammonia was used for washing clothes. This was partly because of the way ammonia reacted with certain materials and with dirt.

Thankfully, we dont have to settle for collecting ammonia like some of the ancients did. But we do know now that ammonia can definitely harm various cloths and materials. You will then also have to deal with stains and odors as well. Not a very soothing thought.

The best way to keep your carpets free from pet urine is to make sure it doesnt get soiled in the first place. You will want to ensure that your pets are trained so that they do not cause that much trouble. Make sure you make urinating on carpets and furniture as uncomfortable and as uninviting as possible. This involves consistently, yet gently, showing your dogs the permitted area for it to relieve itself.

Aside from prevention which is the best way to cure against pet urine here some of the best urine removers available.

Stain Detergents do a good job at removing stains. However, there are other commercially available chemicals that deal particularly with how urine affects your carpet. You may want to browse the internet for the availability of these chemicals. These removers will most likely be of the enzymatic kind. Baking soda does a good job at cleaning as well as deodorizing, and should be a mainstay in any households cleaning efforts.

Bleach is one of mans favorite cleaning agents; however, if you can stick to urine removing agents instead, then it would be better as such chemicals run the risk of seriously damaging your furniture. Stick to other cleansers and agents instead they are not that pricey or difficult to use anyway.

For deep and severely stained carpets, you might want to use a wet vac or even a steam vacuum. These vacuums are very effective at thoroughly cleaning your carpets. If you do not own one, you can rent one from any nearby housekeeping service in your locality.

Odor As mentioned earlier, baking soda does a good job ridding your carpets and rugs of odor. There are also commercially available deodorizers that work really well. While normal deodorizers do well, there are specialized deodorizers available that target odors stemming from pet urine and excrements. You may want to take a look at them to find which one fits your needs.

There are those that offer professional cleaning services for cases like yours. However, if you follow the cleaning tips above, you will not have to avail of their services anyway. That is, unless you suddenly call for a dog party and they all soil your carpet at the same time. But hey, what are the chances of that happening in your lifetime?
