Gout

Author: Lenore Chapman

Do you have Gout. Gout is a form of arthritis, caused by diabetes, obesity, sickle cell anemia or kidney disease. It can affect one or more joints in your body from your toes clear up to a shoulder. The area that gout attacks is very painful, swells and is warm and red.

My husband gets Gout. His feet or knees swell up, and it is very painful. When the gout attacks him, he is in so much pain and it is very hard for him to walk. There is medicine that you can take for it, but we found out the best way to take care of it is, watch your diet. He is on the South Beach Diet and has not had a bout with Gout in months.

My husband loved his shell fish, beer and grapefruit juice. Three things that makes gout flair up in him. Very seldom does he eat shell fish, or drink beer and grapefruit juice has been cut out of his diet, too much acid in it.

He has been on the South Beach Diet and that seems to help him avoid Gout while he is losing weight. The South Beach Diet is great and very easy to follow. Once you get through the first two weeks on the diet, it is so easy to stay on it. Not only has the South Beach Diet helped my husband with his Gout, but it has helped get his blood pressure and his blood sugar down to normal. He is doing great and his health has improved a great deal thanks to the South Beach Diet. Give it a try, you will be surprised how much better you feel.
