Author: Bill Heatley

Researching a market on the search engines is hard, but important if you want to rank well. Why waste your time trying hundreds of SEO techniques? Save yourself time and effort and do research to find out what works in the niche market you are targeting.

How do I research a niche market?

Go to google.com and enter keywords for your niche market. You want to be on the first page, but how do you get there? SEO research involves looking at each website on the front page and figuring out how they got to the front page. Once you know what they did, you can apply what you learned to your website and watch your search engine ranking fly to the top!

But wait!

Don't waste hours researching each of website on the front page of Google. There's a wonderful tool called "SEO for Firefox". It's an extension for the Mozilla Firefox web browser that gathers invaluable information on all the Google search results.

First, get Mozilla Firefox if you don't have it already:

http://www.getfirefox.com/

After you've installed Mozilla Firefox install SEO for Firefox, available here:

http://tools.seobook.com/firefox/seo-for-firefox.html

Make sure you visit that page using Firefox. Follow their installation instructions, it takes no time at all.

After you've restarted Firefox you should see the new SEO for Firefox icon in the status bar of Firefox. It says "SEO" and should be in the bottom-right corner.

Now go to the menu and select Tools->SEO Options... Change every option to "Auto" and the delay to "1 sec". Click the Ok button.

SEO for Firefox should now be configured and ready to use. Go to http://www.google.com and perform a search. You'll see that below every result on Google is a list of information like PageRank, Links, Age, and much much more. If you don't see this make sure the SEO for Firefox icon at the bottom-right is colored blue and red. If it isn't, and is instead gray, click it once.

That's it! With this wonderful extension you can do all your SEO research in a manner of seconds!
