As you leave the Twin Cities area and drive northwest on Interstate 94 about 2 hours you come to the beautiful west-central Minnesota town of Alexandria. Along with the statue of 'Big Ole' the Viking in the downtown area to greet residents and visitors there are also many wonderful lakes around the area. There are seven golf courses in and around the Alexandria area. You're sure to find a golf course that's a perfect fit for your group to enjoy!

If you are looking for a weekend getaway from the Twin Cities or if you are planning a week long vacation from another part of the country the Alexandria area has a lot to offer you for a Minnesota golf vacation!

ALEXANDRIA GOLF CLUB: Alexandria Golf Club is the oldest golf course in the Alexandria area; dating back to 1915.The Alexandria Golf Club is an 18-hole facility that plays 6,504 yards from the back tees with a course rating of 71.9 and a slope of 132. The 7th hole has an elevated tee that plays 172 yards from the back tees. The shot to the green is over a creek, which protects the putting surface. The green is shaped like the state of Minnesota. Alexandria Golf Club has been host to one of Minnesota's longest running golf tournaments, The Resorters Invitational. 2006 marks the 85th year of The Resorters Invitational, which will be played this year July 30th through August 5th. Alexandria Golf Club is the place that PGA Tour Professional and USA Ryder Cup Captain Tom Lehman learned the game of golf. If you are planning a vacation to west-central Minnesota, do yourself a favor and make a tee time at Alexandria Golf Club 320-763-3605. Non-members can make tee times 3 days in advance.

ARROWWOOD RESORT and CONFERENCE CENTER: On the shores of beautiful Lake Darling is the Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center. On this property among many other activities to enjoy is an 18-hole par 70 golf course. The fees at Arrowwood Golf are very reasonable with 18 holes during the week at just $27.00 and $2.00 additional for weekends and holidays. Gas carts, pull carts and golf club rentals are also available. Advanced tee times are required and can be made by calling 320-762-8337. Arrowwood Golf is open April through October.

LAKE MILTONA GOLF CLUB: As we continue to highlight golf courses around the Alexandria area, Lake Miltona Golf Club is a must play when visiting west-central Minnesota. The golf course was established as a 9-hole course in 1965 and has been expanded and improved over the years. The most recent upgrades are a new clubhouse facility in June of 2001 and the expansion to an 18-hole course a year later. From the back tees the 18-holes play at 6,293 yards with a course rating of 70.2 and a slope of 122. Call ahead for a tee time 320-852-7078

GENEVA GOLF CLUB: As you drive through the town of Alexandria and continue northwest on State Highway 27 you will come to Geneva Golf Club. Geneva Golf Club is a 27-hole facility with 3 very different 9-hole courses. The courses consist of The Ponds, Island and Marsh all of which have bent-grass fairways and multiple tees. Variety of tee choices makes these golf courses a challenge for players of all abilities. The natural beauty of the surroundings was designed into every hole at Geneva Golf Club. Call for tee times at 320-762-7089.

ALEXANDRIA AREA 9-HOLE GOLF COURSES: The Alexandria area has wonderful things to do with water sports and other activities. If you happen to be staying at one of the area resorts or perhaps own a lake cabin and have young golfers in your group, you may want to check out one or more of the 9-hole courses for your getaway . You can contact any of the 9-hole golf courses in advance for tee times.
