The Power of a Controlled Golf Swing

Author: C Henry

You may be surprised how little effort it can take to bring your golf swing to the next level. Consider the following question. What makes a good golf swing? Well it turns out a big part of the answer comes down to what you do off the golf course. Below are some simple golf tips to follow that are guaranteed to improve your golf swing and drop strokes off your score. They could mean the difference between shooting triple digits or shooting in the 90s or even 80s.

1) Warm up and stretch your muscles before you tee off. If you have ever been to a live pro golf event you will notice that the golfers dont just arrive at the course and immediately head to the tee box. Instead they go to the driving range, stretch for awhile and then hit some balls. It is a fact that when your muscles are warmed up they perform better and in turn positively influence your golf swing. So try to arrive at the golf course a few minutes early to loosen up and take a few swings. Youll be glad you did.

2) Exercise your golfing muscles when yourre not on the course. To become a good golfer you need to develop a simple workout plan for the muscles used during your golf swing. Getting into the habit of doing this even 10 minutes a day can have a huge impact on your game. Having fit golf muscles will lead to a more comfortable stance during your setup as well as increase your balance and control throughout your swing.

3) Dont swing for the fences just yet. It is true that a big part of golf is mental toughness and resisting the temptation to give your swing that little extra is not an easy thing to do. But the fact of the matter is that a good golf swing is a controlled golf swing. Giving that little extra is great if you can control it, but if you cant chances are youll never see that ball again. What you need to realize is that you can consistently hit the ball well over 200 yards with a nice and easy controlled swing. With regular exercise like described in tip 2) a faster controlled swing will come in time.

4) Ask the Pros. In today's day and age you no longer have to shell out big bucks for a personal golf pro to help you fix your game. There is ample good golf instruction material available through the Internet at a fraction of the cost. Online golf lessons can be really effective when it comes to lowering your handicap. Just make sure you do some research before you buy. There is lots of material available that comes with a money back guarantee and payment is through a third party vendor. Stick with those and you'll have nothing to worry about.
